06/08/26 -Why You Feel Inflamed After Vacation
You’d think you’d feel better after vacation.
But a lot of people come home feeling:
exhausted
bloated
inflamed
mentally foggy
completely thrown off
And usually, they blame the food.
But most of the time, it’s not just the food.
Travel creates cumulative stress on the body in ways people don’t fully realize until they feel the aftermath.
Poor sleep, dehydration, alcohol, different foods, disrupted schedules, late nights, airport stress, and inconsistent routines all stack together quickly.
Even enjoyable travel still places stress on the nervous system and recovery systems of the body.
That’s why even short trips can leave people feeling inflamed or sluggish for days afterward.
This is something I see constantly during the summer months in clinic.
The goal isn’t to avoid travel.
The goal is learning how to support recovery before your body crashes afterward.
A few simple things can make a dramatic difference:
Before travel:
Hydrate more than you think you need.
During travel:
Prioritize protein at least once per day to help stabilize energy and recovery.
After travel:
Give yourself 1–2 recovery days with:
simple meals
earlier sleep
hydration
less alcohol and stimulation
Most people try to jump immediately back into full-speed mode instead of allowing their body to recalibrate.
That’s usually when inflammation lingers.
Your body responds well to consistency—even during summer.
This week’s challenge:
After your next trip, commit to ONE recovery habit for 48 hours.
Maybe it’s hydration.
Maybe it’s earlier sleep.
Maybe it’s eating simple meals again.
Not perfect. Just consistent.
Because recovery is what helps your body bounce back faster—not punishment.
→ Book a consultation and find out what your system has been compensating for.
